Tiger Airways remains grounded.

Tiger Airways Australia’s grounding will remain in place at least a few more days after the airline and CASA applied to the federal court to have a directions hearing into CASA’s suspension of Tiger adjourned to Wednesday August 3.

“Tiger Airways Australia and CASA are currently in ongoing discussions regarding the suspension and see no utility in having a hearing today whilst these discussions continue,” Tiger Airways said in a statement released on August 1.

“Tiger Airways Australia flights will, by virtue of the adjournment, remain suspended until at least 3 August 2011. Certain press reports that Tiger Airways Australia flights will re-commence on Friday 5 August 2011 are speculation. Tiger Airways Australia will make an announcement regarding the date that flights will re-commence and tickets sales have resumed, at the appropriate time.”

The adjournment comes as CASA assesses Tiger’s response to conditions the regulator proposes placing on Tiger’s AOC “which may form the basis for the airline resuming operations,” CASA said in a August 1 statement.

“The notice also set out what Tiger Airways needs to do before CASA would even consider imposing the conditions.

“Tiger Airways has now replied to the notice and CASA is assessing their response.  This process will be completed as soon as possible.”

CASA issued Tiger with formal conditions that it must comply with before returning to the air last Thursday.
