Boeing has announced that it will deliver its first 747-8 Freighter to launch customer Cargolux on September 19, with a second aircraft to follow two days later on September 21.
Both 747-8Fs will be delivered to Cargolux at Boeing’s Everett, Washington factory. Cargolux, which has 13 747-8Fs on order, will put the first two aircraft into revenue service from its base in Luxembourg immediately after they are delivered.

“It is great to receive our first two 747-8 Freighters within just a few days,” said Cargolux president and CEO, Frank Reimen.
“In a sense, history is repeating itself. We were pioneering the cargo industry when we put the first 747-400 Freighter into revenue service in 1993. This is what we do once again with the 747-8 Freighter, which is ultimately a testimony of our good and long standing partnership with Boeing,” he added.
