Japan’s ANA has formally accepted the first Boeing 787 to be handed over to a customer, with the signing of formal documents handing over ownership of the aircraft (registered JA801A) in Everett on September 25, ahead of a delivery ceremony scheduled for September 26.

Boeing says the contractual delivery followed a series of acceptance flights, inspections and the transfer of payment for the aircraft.

“Now that the airplane is ready to deliver, the entire team is ready to celebrate,” said Scott Fancher, Boeing’s vice president and general manager of the 787 program. “We look forward to honouring our launch customer ANA before they fly their first Dreamliner home to Japan.”

A formal delivery ceremony will be held at 9am local time on September 26 (2am AEST on September 27). Boeing will webcast the event live here.

The aircraft is then due to depart on its delivery flight to Tokyo at 6.35am Tuesday morning (local time).
