Qantas has announced it will increase the frequency of its services to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) from four times per week to daily from next July.

The increase to seven services a week will be an incremental one, with a rise to six services per week from January 15 2012.

“We are delighted to be offering more frequent flights to Dallas/Fort Worth after the successful launch of the route,” Group Executive Qantas Airlines Commercial, Rob Gurney said in a statement. “This announcement is all about putting our gateway strategy into action and building a stronger Qantas International for our customers. As the only direct service from Australia beyond the US west coast, it gives Australians access to the country’s fourth-largest metropolitan economy and to Texas’ unique tourism experiences.”

DFW is one of oneworld partner American Airlines’ main US hubs, and has opened up one stop services for Qantas passengers to numerous US cities. “Earlier this year we expanded our codeshare arrangement with American Airlines to include 59 destinations out of DFW and our JBA with American will further strengthen our relationship,” said Gurney. “And as a perfectly located hub airport less than four hours from every major US city, DFW offers outstanding onward connections for business and leisure travellers.”

The service uses Boeing 747-400ER equipment, and requires the aircraft to fly the return service via Brisbane due to range/payload restrictions against the prevailing winds.
