Airport awards for Adelaide, others

Adelaide Airport has been named Capital City Airport of the Year.

Adelaide Airport has been named Australia’s capital city airport of the year.

The award, presented Tuesday during the Australian Airport Association’s annual convention, recognised the airport for a major overhaul of its runways that including laying down over 415,000 square meters of asphalt and replacing more than 600 taxiway lights with new LED technology.

Newcastle Airport and Sunshine Coast Airport shared the award for major airport of the year. Newcastle was recognised for a program that brought more than 3500 school children to the airport to learn about operations, while Sunshine Coast drew the honour for its terminal redevelopment.
