Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is exploring plans to expand overnight freight operations.
That could include facilitating a dedicated fleet of Boeing 737 freighters or a similar type of aircraft at the airport. Currently, overnight freight activities at the airport are limited to midsized propeller aircraft.

In a statement, CEO Colin Grove said the airport was awaiting results of the government commissioned Sydney Basin Aviation Capacity Study before moving ahead with plans. A full technical feasibility assessment of expanded freight operations would be launched if the study recommends an increased role for the Bankstown Airport.
Any plans to expand operations would also be subject to an extensive public consultation process, Grove said.
He said the airport would await the outcomes of the government study before considering any expansion to its currently limited passenger services.

says:I’ve no problems with a freighter operation out of YSBK – I live under the circuit area.
What I have a major problem with is the expansion to jet operations using 737s when Sydney’s major airport can’t do the same because of political interference.
When I see the curfew to allow 737 flights outside out curfew hours at YSSY, I’ll be accepting of flights from YSBK.
