Hawaiian ups A330 order

Hawaiian Airlines has ordered an extra five A330-200s.

Hawaiian Airlines has signed up for an additional five Airbus A330-200s.

The Honolulu based carrier now has commitments on 22 A330 aircraft including four that are under lease. It currently operates five A330-200s and plans to use the Airbus widebodies to replace its fleet of Boeing 767-300s.

Hawaiian’s A330s are configured to carry 294 passengers in two classes.

As of the end of October, 433 A330-200s were in operation woldwide and Airbus had a backlog of 131 firm orders, the planemaker said. The A330-200 entered service in 1998.
