The airline said the flights will provide a vital link between Sydney and the agricultural and mining industries of mid-west Queensland. Currently Toowoomba is served only by charter flights.
The new Sydney flights will be aimed squarely at business and will depart Toowoomba in the morning and return in the evening. Skytrans said it would release a final schedule and pricing next month.
“The local business community have lobbied for these services for some time, so it is our great pleasure, after many months of due diligence, to make this announcement,” Skytrans managing director Simon Wild said.
The airline said it intends to recruit cabin crew from the Toowoomba region initially with a medium term aim to base flight crews, engineers and aircraft in Toowoomba.
