Griffith University has entered into an agreement with Cathay Pacific that will give its aviation students an opportunity to secure a position in Cathay’s Advance Entry Cadet program.
The airline sponsored 32-week course will commence when successful students obtain their Commercial Pilots Licence and have met required hours under Hong Kong licensing regulations.

“We are honoured to partner with Cathay Pacific to support both innovation and encourage greater diversity of enrolment into airline pilot training throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific,” said Associate Professor Paul Bates, the head of Griffith’s School of Aviation. “We are anticipating a strong response to this attractive new cadetship which seeks to remove some of the traditional barriers to becoming an airline pilot.”
The Griffith Bachelor of Aviation will provide students with airline management, commercial, economic and operational skills. Australian students enrolled in the program will also have access to Australian Government FEE-HELP.
It is expected that demand for available places (up to 120 in year one) will be highly competitive, Griffith said.
