Etihad's move to the Sabre reservations system will align it with Virgin Australia.

Etihad Airways will migrate its existing reservations system to Sabre as part of a US$1 billion investment in improving its passengers sales, website and check in systems.

Following the changeover, Etihad’s new system will be fully aligned with partner Virgin Australia, which moved to Sabre on January 13 this year.

The Passenger Service System represents one of the airline’s most challenging and business-critical IT transformation projects in its history. Some 6,700 Etihad and third-party staff are being trained in the new system across the airline’s growing network of 82 destinations.

The changeover will occur between February 23 and 24.

Etihad has advised customers to arrive at the airport for check-in four hours ahead of scheduled departure and is encouraging web-based check-in 24 hours prior to departure.
