Sandora Aviation, the historic aircraft rebuild and maintenance organisation based at Caboolture, Queensland, closed its doors in November. It is understood its engineers retired and there was no one immediately available to replace them.
Over the years Sandora had been involved in the rebuild and restoration of a number of historic aircraft including a T-6 Harvard, DH94 Moth Minor, Mustang VH-MFT, a Winjeel, several Wirraways and more recently the DH60 Gipsy Moth, VH-ULM. The Gipsy Moth was in the Sandora rebuild shop for several years. It had been acquired from the Air World collection sell-off in 2002. Needing a full rebuild it went to Sandora where the work was carried out, the aircraft took to the air again on May 17 2012. It had not flown for 25 years.
