Asia Pacific passenger traffic continues steady growth

written by australianaviation.com.au | April 15, 2013

Passenger traffic in the Asia Pacific region has continued to increase steadily, with a year-on-year increase of 6.7 per cent recorded at airports in the region during February.

The data released by the Airport Council International (ACI) showed a more modest year-to-date increase of 4.3 per cent when compared to same period last year, taking into account the seasonal impact of the Chinese New Year national holidays.

ACI said the five busiest airports in February in terms of passenger traffic were Beijing with 6.4 million passengers, Tokyo Haneda (HND) with five million passengers, Hong Kong (HKG) with 4.6 million and Bangkok (BKK) handling 4.3 million passengers.

Airfreight volumes, however, declined over the period, with 11.8%  reduction shown for the month.
