As competition on domestic routes hots up, so too does the inflight dining experience for some Qantas passengers on flights between the eastern seaboard and Perth.
Business class passengers will be treated to an international-standard a la carte menu on all flights from Sydney-Perth, Melbourne-Perth and Brisbane-Perth from late May.

Complementing the traditional three course menu already available, the new dining service includes a range of small and main plates as well as ‘small bites’ to start.
Qantas Domestic CEO Lyell Strambi said the airline “continues to challenge the notion of traditional airline meal service by delivering modern, restaurant style experiences in the sky.
“Qantas invented Business Class travel and now we’re raising the bar again,” Strambi said. “The new menu gives customers a more contemporary dining experience too while still tapping into local produce and providing enough variation for frequent flyers.”
However contemporary the ‘new’ service may be, not so long ago passengers in all classes could experience international service when flying on the domestic leg of an international flight, including schedules to Zimbabwe and South Africa via Perth or Cairns northbound to Japan.
