Regional charter carrier Alliance has announced a 21 per cent increase in revenue for the 2013 financial year, raising earnings to $223 million. The company achieved a more than 10 per cent after-tax return, reporting a healthy $23.3 million in net profit after tax, a 13 per cent increase on the previous year.

During the year Alliance added five long-range Fokker 70s to its fleet, which helped boost its earnings from FIFO operations. The company funded the purchase through an institutional share placement, raising $24.1 million. The Fokker 70s enable Alliance to operate from the east coast to any destination in Western Australia, giving it  the ability to link important mining centres across the country.

Utilisation of the total fleet of 29 aircraft, including 18 Fokker 100s, five Fokker 70s and six Fokker 50s, increased by 17 per cent and recorded an average 90 per cent on-time dispatch rate.

Alliance will add another two Fokker 70s during 2014.

The company’s managing director Scott McMillan described 2013’s performance as “rewarding”, adding the Alliance Group had achieved a number of business strategies promised under the public float.

McMillan expects the coming year to maintain the buoyant performance of 2013.

“Over two-thirds of the FY2014 forecast revenue is secured by existing contracts,” he said.

The airline has bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin.
