Virgin Australia marked the delivery of its 100th Boeing 737 by flying 100 Starlight children on a special charter on the aircraft’s first passenger flight on Monday.
“As Starlight’s official wish granting partner, we are delighted to use the arrival of our new aircraft to create a special experience for children who need it the most,” Danielle Keighery, Virgin Australian group executive of corporate communications said.

The flight experience included cockpit tours, in-air bingo, sing-a-long songs with crew, a lunch service designed by Luke Mangan, and a surprise appearance from boy-band, ‘The Collective’. The airline’s cabin crew and pilots volunteered their time for the Starlight flight, while Boeing provided gift donations, Shell donated aviation fuel and Sydney Airport waived landing fee surcharges and provided complimentary parking.
The 100th 737, 737-800 VH-YFR, was due to enter service on Tuesday.
