Canada’s second largest carrier WestJet has signed a letter of intent with Boeing to purchase 65 737 MAXs. The deal, worth around US$6.3 billion at list prices, comprises 40 737-8s and 25 737-7s.

The Boeing 737 has been Westjet’s staple aircraft since it began operations in 1996. It now has nearly 100 of the type in service. The new aircraft will be used to retire older 737s and to continue the airline’s expansion program.
