The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and Cooper Basin oil and gas producer Senex Energy have announced a significant partnership that will see the petroleum producer contribute $300,000 to RFDS Central Operations over the next three years.
In an extension of existing arrangement, the two organisations will “share and enhance safety cultures within on-ground oil and gas operations and surrounding outback and pastoral communities”.

“The partnership incorporates a unique program of workforce emergency medical response training and enhanced health service delivery that will benefit the wider community in the region,” CEO of RFDS Central Operations John Lynch said.
“The significance of Senex’s support is that it will reach far and wide – and deliver lasting community benefit. Senex’s contribution will support our capital-raising program for the ongoing upgrade of our fleet of medically-equipped aircraft that deliver emergency aeromedical and primary health care services throughout South and Central Australia,” he said.
“In addition, the agreed sharing of knowledge and expertise will include emergency response skills training of Senex staff and continuous improvement of infrastructure and in-field emergency procedures. This will greatly assist the RFDS service delivery to local staff, landholders, businesses and tourists to the region,” he said.
The territory covered by the new arrangement includes Senex’s growing oil operations on the western flank of the Cooper Basin.
In recognition of the Company’s significant support, the RFDS has badged the fuselage of one of its ‘flying intensive care units’ – VH-FDE – with the Senex logo. The new livery was today unveiled for the first time, at a ceremony in Innamincka in SA’s far north.
VH-FDE is one of 11 Pilatus PC-12s operated by RFDS Central Operations across its Adelaide, Port Augusta and Alice Springs bases.
