The parent companies of American Airlines and US Airways, AMR Corp and US Airways Group, have announced the completion of their merger to formally become American Airlines Group Inc.
It is expected to take up to two years for the two carriers to complete the merger of personnel and planes, particularly achieving the Single Operating Certificate. For the time being, the two airlines will operate from separate websites and reservations systems.

The new airline will operate nearly 6,700 daily flights to more than 330 destinations in over 50 countries.

US Airways will exit the Star Alliance on March 30, 2014 and join the oneworld alliance the following day, due to the merger. American Airlines was a founding member of oneworld.
