The Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA) has announced that it has received approval from the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) as an approved flight training organisation to conduct integrated airline transport pilot licence (ATPL) training for UAE-based airlines.

The AAPA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Regional Express (Rex) and is located at Wagga Wagga in the NSW Riverina. It’s campus has accommodation for 200 cadets and features classrooms, workshops, simulators, hangars and an ILS-equipped runway.

“This approval is further affirmation of AAPA’s reputation as one of the finest flight training establishments for professional airline pilots,” AAPA Chairman Dale Hall said in a statement. “AAPA now becomes one of only three non UAE-based flight training organisations worldwide approved by the GCAA and the first approved to conduct ATPL training.”

The AAPA is an Australian registered training organisation and is accredited to deliver the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Flight Operations). It is also on the Commonwealth Register for Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Glad to see Rex can get something right!

I have to say my experience with Rex has not been good. I do not think that Rex realise the problems they cause when they decide to moved your departure time forward or delay it. I have had Rex do this to me too many times. Does Rex realise that we might have connecting flights that are then affected???
