A new Thales LORADS III air traffic management system has been activated in Singapore following a successful deployment and trial program.
The system was inaugurated on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow by that country’s Minister for Transport, Lui Tuck Yew and the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Yap Ong Heng.

The system had been in place since May 2013, and has also been rolled out across Taiwan. LORADS III is a key element of Australia’s Advanced Air Traffic System (TAAATS), and the company announced on February 11 that is has also signed a contract to upgrade Thailand’s air traffic management system.
Thales says LORADS III features the TopSky-ATC system allowing it to achieve minimum permitted aircraft separation standards.
“This strategic program is the result of the successful collaboration between the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and our experts in order to deliver the world’s most advanced ATM system,” Thales Chairman & CEO, Jean-Bernard Lévy said in a statement. “As a major hub, Singapore is now future-proofed to meet the high growth in civil transport that is expected. This is a milestone for Thales in Asia. It is testament that in the choice of critical infrastructure for civil air transport, Thales is the world’s most trusted partner.”
