Scant details from a frantic mobile call to triple-0 are passed to the crew of the Southern Region Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service. A sinking boat thought to be 5nm east of Dee Why on Sydney’s northern beaches is all the information the crew has to work with. Within just four minutes Lifesaver 1 is airborne and heading north from its Sydney base at La Perouse – on the northern headland of Botany Bay.
