Northrop Grumman has announced it has entered into a collaboration with Diamond Aircraft to develop new intelligence-gathering capabilities for the Canadian and international markets.
A company release says Northrop Grumman will establish a presence near Diamond Aircraft’s production facility at London International Airport in Ontario.

“Diamond Aircraft has a long history of superior design and manufacturing processes for propeller-driven general aviation aircraft,” Northrop Grumman’s vice president of medium range tactical systems, George Vardoulakis said in a statement. “Combined with Northrop Grumman’s leadership in manned and unmanned systems, we can pool our expertise to explore new opportunities for our customers worldwide.”
Added Diamond Industries president and CEO, Peter Maurer; “Collaborating with Northrop Grumman is a great opportunity to bring high-value work to Southern Ontario and to develop new Canadian products for domestic and international markets. We’re very excited to move forward in this long-term relationship.”
No information has been provided on what airframe the partners would be offering the ISR capabilities on. Diamond manufactures a range of light single and twin composite aircraft, and has sold nearly 100 of its DA42 MPP Guardian light ISR aircraft to military and para-public organisations around the world.
