Qantas is temporarily increasing capacity on the Sydney-Honolulu route from September by adding supplementary services and upgrading Boeing 767-300ERs to Airbus A330 equipment.
“From 14 September to 27 December Qantas will upgrade the aircraft to an Airbus A330 and add A330 supplementary services on some Saturdays to cater for increased demand,” the airline said in a statement.

The QF3 flight departs Sydney at 8.55pm and arrives in Honolulu at 9.35am the same day. The return QF4 departs Honolulu at 11.05am, and lands in Sydney at 6.35pm the following day.

says:Wow, that’s fantastic news, Qantas has been consitantly full on the Honolulu run. They used to fly 747’s on that route until jetstar started.
Maybe instead of pulling out of the Perth – Singapore route they could keep a couple of the newest 767’s to do it considering they are a smaller capacity, seeing that they had a Q streaming refresh only a year ago.

says:The 763 on this route has been embarrassing for a long time. Yeah, it’s a low yielding route, but I can’t believe can’t sell enough skybeds to make it worth running a 330 – you don’t have to give any upgrades away if you dont want to. In fact, that makes the paying punters happier – nothing nicer than 10/30 seats filled on a 10-hour flight. The pax in Y undoubtedly prefer the 330 too.

says:Great to read about Qantas increasing services to somewhere, even if it is only temporary !! How many flights a week does Jetstar fly to HNL ? They have been using AB330s for a while now, and I guess soon the B787. Honolulu Should be the place to go with Qantas then, for their “East Coast Customers”
