Emirates says it will add its EK airline code on five more Jetstar-operated flights and give its frequent flyer members the opportunity to earn points on Jetstar services.

The Dubai-based Emirates says the new codeshare flights cover Jetstar Asia or Valuair services from Singapore to Penang, Medan and Yangon, as well as Jetstar Airways services from Melbourne to Uluru and Christchurch to Wellington. The EK codes will begin appearing on those Jetstar services from October 26, Jetstar said in a statement on Monday, and will bring to 30 the total number of codeshare routes in the Asia-Pacific.

Separately, Emirates said members of its frequent flyer program Skywards would be able to earn points on certain Jetstar international flights operated by Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan and Valuair, depending on the type of fare booked.

Moreover, Skywards points could also be earned on domestic Jetstar flights within Australia and New Zealand if they connected onto an international flight.

“The expansion of codeshare with Jetstar Group carriers is an important milestone as we continue to expand the destinations available to Emirates’ passengers,” Emirates chief commercial officer Thierry Antinori said in a statement.

All Emirates passengers travelling on Jetstar flights would receive boarding passes at check-in at their first international departure point for connecting international flights, the statement said.

Emirates passengers would also receive a “full range of full service features” such as food and beverage options and the same luggage allowance they would have received on Emirates.
