Virgin Australia has repainted and renamed the Boeing 737-800 which was named Brett’s Jet after Virgin Blue founding chief executive Brett Godfrey.

The 737, VH-BZG, was one of the last aircraft in the Virgin Australia fleet still wearing the old Virgin Blue colours, and was repainted by Flying Colours in Townsville over late August-early September. It re-emerged from the paintshop not only wearing Virgin Australia colours but sporting a new name, Vivonne Bay, after the long sandy beach on the south coast of South Australia’s Kangaroo Island.

Then Virgin Blue general manager public affairs Heather Jeffrey announced at Brett Godfrey’s May 2010 farewell function that the airline’s next aircraft then due for delivery would be named Brett’s Jet and be registered VH-BZG, with BZG the initials of Brett and his wife Zahra Godfrey. VH-BZG was handed over to Virgin Blue in Seattle on July 29 2010, arriving in Brisbane at the end of its trans-Pacific delivery flight on August 1 that year.
