Wellington will be Fiji Airways’ third NZ destination and comes on top of existing flights from Nadi to Auckland and Christchurch.
“We announced earlier this year in our five-year strategic plan that we were committed to increasing capacity between New Zealand and Fiji. The introduction of this new route reflects our commitment to the New Zealand market, and in growing our global network,” Fiji Airways chief executive Stefan Pichler said.
Wellington Airport chief executive Steve Sanderson said the new service was expected to be popular for holiday makers and those visiting friends and family.
“The new service to Fiji, which will add up to 34,000 seats to Wellington’s market, really demonstrates the demand and growth in international traffic to and from Wellington,” Sanderson said.
