Singapore Airlines owned long-haul low-cost carrier Scoot has announcement plans to begin services to Melbourne next year.
Melbourne will become Scoot’s fourth Australian destination when five times weekly Boeing 787-9 services begin on November 1 2015.

“We’ve heard loud and clear the demands of Scoot to fly to Melbourne, and we’re delighted to finally be able to answer them,” Scoot chief executive officer Campbell Wilson said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Melbourne, with its world-class culture, events, dining and surrounding scenery has long been on our radar and the arrival of our new Boeing 787s gives us the chance to add it to our network.”
According to the airlineroute.net website, flight TZ022 will depart Singapore at 0100, arriving Melbourne at 1120MEL, while the return flight TZ021 will depart Melbourne at 1230 and arrive back in Singapore at 1725. The flights will operate each Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Scoot launched operations in June 2012 when it began flying to Sydney, and it has since added Perth and the Gold Coast as Australian destinations. The airline has 10 335-seat 787-8s and 10 375-seat 787-9s on order, which it will use for growth and to replace its existing fleet of six 777-200ERs.
First 787 services are planned to launch on January 1 next year, to Perth and Hong Kong.
