Regional aviation is a force for good
In my final column representing the RAAA it is timely to reflect on what lies ahead for regional aviation, and our industry in general. Occupying the commercial aviation middle ground is an increasingly tough gig in that the economies of scale are not always favourable, the regulations keep piling up, and passion alone will not pay the bills.
Yet at both the tactical and strategic level regional aviation remains essential to this country’s economic growth and social well-being. Our country will always have a relatively sparse population with large distances between communities. If people are needed quickly in remote locations or urgent freight is required, regional aviation is usually the solution. It has become part of Australia’s DNA.
