The fate of Cessna 210 VH-MDX remains a mystery 35 years after its disappearance, presumed crashed in the rugged Barrington Tops National Park. Could it happen again?

In the wake of the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines MH370, the greater public and aviation community alike have been intrigued by how an aircraft can go missing almost without trace. And while the scale of the loss of a Boeing 777 is particularly daunting, there have been a good many aircraft that have never been found – and some are quite close to home.

One such case is the disappearance of the Cessna 210M VH-MDX over the Barrington Tops in 1981, with the presumed loss of all five onboard, pilot Michael Hutchins plus passengers Ken Price, Rhett Bolsler, Noel Wildash and Phillip Pembroke.
