The improvements were announced by Sydney Airport managing director and CEO Kerrie Mather on Monday, with work on the improvements due for completion by the end of the year.
“These improvement works will deliver a comfortable dining area where passengers can relax and enjoy a wide range of tasty and healthy food options catering to all tastes and budgets, while taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi and enjoying enhanced views of the airfield,” Mather said.
According to Sydney Airport the improvements comprise:
- A redesigned casual seating area to increase capacity with upgraded flooring, columns, ceiling finishes, and contemporary furniture with textural finishes;
- New navigation signage and updated flight information display screens;
- Six new food kiosks; and
- Smart device charging stations at communal tables.
The T2 terminal serves domestic Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Tigerair Australia and regional airline flights.

says:When is something going to be done at the Brisbane domestic terminal? It is a disgrace for a so called food court. Nothing too trendy/healthy at all and all so expensive.

says:I saw this work underway when I transited through this morning. However I didn’t see any issue with the foodcourt the way it was. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
If they want to improve T2 and make it more bright, airy and modern – they should focus on putting more floor to ceiling glass in the Virgin Australia pier to make it look more consistent with the Tigerair/Jetstar pier.
Come to think of it though the entire domestic precinct needs a major revamp or rebuild. Both T2 and T3 were developed/renovated to roughly their current configuration nearly 20 years ago. I know T2 has had some cosmetic improvements since the days of Ansett, but T3 is looking very tired and desperately needs an upgrade. T2 at least has relatively new flooring (carpet/tiles) and seating is in good condition. With T3 the hard flooring/main concourse looks OK, However going in to the gate areas a lot of the carpets and seating are torn/dirty/grubby. Qantas and/or Sydney airport needs to pay attention to this. Its stating to look like a third rate bus station, rather than the hub terminal of a premium airline.

says:The only thing that needs improving in the T2 food court is the price.

says:Nothing needs fixing with the food court. Maybe try to rennovate other areas such as the Virgin Pier – install more floor to ceiling glass. Terminal 1 could do with some work (or at least arrivals did last year)
