F-35 production ramps up as battle rages over bringing its price down

The Australian Government can be thankful for Donald Trump’s negotiating skills after the new US President took credit for a US$600 million reduction in price for the next batch of 90 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters

Australia’s next eight F-35As are among the 90 F-35s being built under the newly-agreed low rate initial production (LRIP) lot 10 contract, a deal that sees the unit cost of an F-35A fall below US$100 million for the first time, to US$94.6 million.
