The Foxtrot Chinook settles into Army service
The Australian Army’s 5 Aviation Regiment (5 Avn) based at Townsville in north Queensland is steadily ramping up the operational capabilities of its new Boeing CH-47F Chinook medium-lift helicopter fleet.
The 10 new Chinooks of C Squadron replaced seven older CH-47D models in 2015 and 2016, and these operate alongside 19 Airbus Helicopters MRH-90 Taipans of A and B Squadrons (see Australian Aviation, Oct 2017).
