The super engine specs may still be on the drawing board, but Pratt & Whitney refuses to be diverted by the delivery delays, groundings and in-flight shutdowns that have underscored turbulent times for other big commercial aircraft engine manufacturers and affected some airline customers.

They are calling it the Geared Turbofan Generation 2, or GTF2, a super engine that will power the next generation of single-aisle commercial jets from Boeing and Airbus.
