This story about the Quest Kodiak by Owen Zupp first appeared in the April 2019 edition of Australian Aviation.

The Kodiak was conceived with a very specific role in mind. The aircraft was designed to serve humanitarian aid groups in the field. (Owen Zupp and Grahame Hutchison)

In aircraft design, beauty is more than skin deep. While some airframes are particularly aesthetically pleasing, many hide their strengths beneath aerodynamic fairings or engine cowlings and only on closer inspection is their true purpose revealed. The Quest Kodiak is a classic case study of this fact.

Great story which is never a surprise from Owen.
I wouldn’t like to attempting to land on the 5ft runways mentioned in the article tho ?

Much like the Gippsland GA8, an aircraft built to meet specific purposes.

      Hi Stu Bee,
The text should have read 45ft. The story has been updated.
      Apologies for the typo.
      Thank you for reading.

A very interesting and comprehensive article. I’d like to see an article in Australian Aviation that compares Kodiak with GA8. Particularly interested to understand situations in which a customer might choose one over the other.
