P aris 2019 was always going to be a weird one for the two key airframe manufacturers. Picture the expectation or otherwise of buyers and commentators against the backdrop of the ongoing grounding of the 737 MAX, the implications of that for Boeing’s reputation, and a potential free home run for Airbus because of it.
Suffice to say, Boeing did not need the additional pressure of a GE announcement of several months’ delay to its GE9X engine for the Boeing 777X.
