Australian aerial mapping company Aerometrex has bought fellow imagery company Spookfish.

The business said the move, subject to due diligence, is part of a strategy of pursuing growth opportunities despite the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Aerometrex has conducted major aerial imagery programs for both Microsoft Bing Maps and Google Earth.
In February, Australian Aviation reported how Aerometrex recorded a 44 per cent revenue growth in its maiden half-year since being listed on the ASX.
Managing director Mark Deuter said, “The decision to pursue an ASX listing was a result of the significant growth opportunities for the business. This half saw a large increase in revenue growth as the business continues to gain market share in an industry with strong tailwinds.
“It was particularly pleasing to see the company’s strategic initiatives already starting to deliver positive financial outcomes.”
Established in 1980, Aerometrex has built a reputation as a leading practitioner of aerial imaging, photogrammetry, 3D modelling and lidar surveys.
The business has conducted major aerial imagery programs for Microsoft, with its Bing Maps Ultracam Osprey oblique camera program for every Australian capital city, and for Google Earth, with its Australia/NZ Cities 3D mapping program.
Some of the largest aerial surveys undertaken in Australia have been acquired and processed by Aerometrex.
These include the Galilee Basin survey of 115,000 square kilometres for the Queensland government; the western Victoria aerial survey of 73,500 square kilometres for the Victorian government; and a series of cross-continental linear corridor surveys of 9,000 kilometres for Visionstream.
