The Qantas Founders Museum has been ranked in the top 10 per cent of attractions worldwide by Tripadvisor.
The 2020 ‘Choice Award’ is significant because it’s based on a full year of millions of reviews, opinions and ratings collected by the travel rating website. It marks a positive development after the attraction was forced to close for months in March as coronavirus restrictions kicked in.

Tripadvisor’s chief commercial officer, Kanika Soni, said, “Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners’ achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality.
“Not only are these winners well-deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for [travellers] as the world begins to venture out again.”
Museum CEO Tony Martin said, “We also would like to thank all our customers who have visited, reviewed and supported our Museum not just in 2019 but since we opened our doors in 1996.”
Australian Aviation previously reported that the museum’s new light show exhibition launched on 1 July, after the project was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The ‘Luminescent Longreach’ display projects a 3D animation across 635 square metres of a Boeing 747. The project’s design was the result of an 11,000-hour creative process.
“There is nothing like this anywhere else in the world, it is an entirely immersive experience that won’t disappoint,” Martin said earlier.
The night time ‘light and sound experience’ was brought to life by design studio Buchan and took more than 2,000 hours to install.
The show tells the 100-year history of Qantas using 3D animation, projection mapping and 360-degree immersive sound.
The Qantas Founders Museum itself reopened on 1 July after shutting three months ago due to coronavirus restrictions.
