Video: Antonov An-124-100 lands at Avalon

Australian Aviation photographer Victor Pody caught the moment a 30-year-old Antonov Airlines An-124-100 landed at Avalon Airport last week.

UR-82029 msn 19530502630 departed Johor, Malaysia, on 14 January as flight ADB3668 and landed in Darwin later that day, before continuing on to Avalon where it landed at 4:31pm.

The iconic four-engine plane, one of the world’s heaviest, was created by Antonov Design Bureau in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in the Soviet Union. It is thought to have a maximum take-off weight of 402 tonnes and a gigantic wingspan of 73 metres.
