Brisbane Airshow has been postponed for a second time and will now take place on the weekend of the 2–3 July 2022.

The event, originally due to be held in July and then October, takes place at Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield, a one-hour drive from the Queensland capital.
Organisers said that those who roll over their tickets to next year will be automatically entered into a draw to win three prizes, including a flight in a P51D Mustang.
“Over the past weeks it has become increasingly clear that we will be unable to present the Brisbane Airshow in a safe manner this coming October,” said the business in a statement. “The safety and protection of air show patrons and staff is essential.
“Whilst the decision to postpone has been difficult, it has been necessary. The closure of state borders, nature of snap lockdowns, and inevitability of Delta occurring in Queensland, all make the promise of a great air show near impossible to achieve.
“With inter-state aircraft and expo participation being adversely affected, we have been mindful to ensure the quality of our brand as well as that of our sponsors and expo participants. It is important that we bring a quality airshow free of any ‘COVID spreading’ incident.”
The news comes a month after COVID also caused the cancellation of Australia’s biggest airshow, AVALON.
Organisers the AMDA Foundation said it had to make the “difficult decision” in order to minimise risk and disruption for both industry participants and attendees. The next event is now expected to take place from 28 February to 5 March 2023.
“The pandemic has already required the AVALON organising team to work through many past challenges in respect of the 2021 event, including postponement from its original planned dates,” said Ian Honnery, CEO of the AMDA Foundation.
“However, recent developments as a consequence of the COVID-19 Delta strain have highlighted that the environment has become more unpredictable. Delivering such a highly complex, hallmark event in these challenging circumstances would involve risks of uncertainty for attendees, participants, industry and the Australian public.
“Therefore, in order to minimise uncertainty and disruption to attendees and participants, the difficult decision has been taken now that AVALON 2021 will not go ahead.”
