Rex operated its first service between the NSW and Victorian capitals on 1 March. The Boeing 737-8FE, VH-RQC msn 33797, departed Melbourne at 7:21am as flight ZL18 and arrived in Sydney at 8:25am. There were further flights at 5pm (Mel-Syd) and 10:30am and 7:30pm (Syd-Mel).
Rex later launched domestic routes between Melbourne and the Gold Coast on 29 March, Melbourne and Adelaide on 31 March; and between Sydney and the Gold Coast on 1 April. The first flights were: a Boeing 737-8FE, VH-REX msn 36609, which departed Melbourne at 10:51am on 29 March as flight ZL662 and landed in the Gold Coast 11:34am. A Boeing 737- 8FE, VH-RQG msn 34168, which departed Melbourne at 7:57am on 31 March as flight ZL427 and landed in Adelaide at 8:24am. A Boeing 737-8FE, VH-PAG msn 37821, departed Sydney at 12:57pm on 1 April as flight ZL540 and landed in the Gold Coast at 1pm.
