Checking in with Avalon Airport

Six months ago, Australian Aviation sat down with Avalon Airport’s chief executive Justin Giddings to hear how the airport was faring in the midst of the biggest crisis the industry has ever seen. At that time, the airport took a surprisingly proactive response to the pandemic, which included separating corporate staff into separate office blocks, and redeploying workers most affected by the lack of passengers (such as café staff) into other required roles, such as painters and cleaners.

To check in on how Victoria’s second busiest airport has handled the next six months of the global pandemic, reporter Hannah Dowling again sat down with CEO Justin Giddings.
