Billed as the largest industrial project in the airport’s history, the new 26,120sqm office and warehouse complex will host more than 120 courier franchises on its expected completion in the second quarter of 2024 and marks the first stage of development for the 49,571sqm master-planned warehousing, logistics and manufacturing precinct.
“The size of this development highlights the potential for logistics and industrial development at Brisbane Airport at scale,” said Martin Ryan, Brisbane Airport Corporation’s executive general manager commercial, before adding that securing Aramex demonstrates the precinct’s attractiveness to global brands.
“With freight and logistics industries becoming increasingly important, the unrivalled transport links of Brisbane Airport offer an ideal home for companies providing these essential services.”
The warehouse – centrally located within the precinct – will have 25,070sqm of net lettable area (NLA), with an attached office of 1,050sqm NLA. Additionally, there will be 157 parking spaces for cars, 14 racks for bicycles, end-of-trip facilities, and space for pallet racking, freight sortation, and customer collection.
According to Aramex’s Brisbane general manager, Jacob Marsters, the industrial park’s direct access to road and air transport will significantly boost Aramex’s delivery and logistic operations in South-East Queensland.
“In our business, speed and efficiency are critical. That’s why being located at the Brisbane Airport precinct and connected to major arterial roads were key factors in our decision-making,” he said.
“The quick access to the northern, western and southern distribution networks, along with multiple access points in the precinct, will be an advantage for our operations.”
Brisbane Airport already plays host to a growing number of national and international logistics and supply chain companies and is outlaying close to $1 billion on commercial developments.
DHL is one company expected to open a new facility at the airport this year, with the “sustainable” $17 million centre expected to boost its general cargo and cold-chain logistics operations.
DHL said the Brisbane Airport location was chosen as it offers airside access and is close to the Port of Brisbane.
“The expansion of our facilities at Brisbane Airport reflects the tremendous growth in exports, especially perishable food,” said George Lawson, the managing director of DHL Global Forwarding Australia.
“Brisbane’s economy is predicted to surge by 2031, and with this new facility, we are ready to support our customers’ growth.”
