Orbx, which was behind the massive overhaul of Australia in Flight Simulator 2020, created a detailed reconstruction of the airport’s layout as of May 2023, including photorealistic buildings, cars, streetlights, elevated roadways, and interior modelling of departure lounges.

“Modelled by our Orbx team led by Sascha Normann, YMML has been meticulously recreated, from the intricacies of the terminals to the sprawling runways and taxiways, with stunning landscapes that surround the airport,” the developer said.

“We are proud to bring our second home to MSFS, with every detail of the airport being carefully crafted, as it captures the essence of the airport, with precise runway markings, accurately placed signage and faithfully replicated buildings.”

Microsoft last week announced Flight Simulator 2024, which will support most of the content from the 2020 edition.

In a FAQ on the Flight Simulator 2024 website, the developers confirmed that current aircraft and airports from Flight Simulator 2020, and “virtually all” Marketplace add-ons, will be supported in next year’s release.

“We will continue to deliver our Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Roadmap which has content ranging from Aircraft and Avionics Updates, Sim Updates, City and World Updates, and also the free Dune DLC. We will continue to support Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) post the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launch,” the FAQ reads.

“With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.”
