Drone pilots from the Australian Defence Force have taken out top honours for the third time at the multi-national Military International Drone Racing Tournament 2024 in the UK.
A team of soldiers from Australian Army 2nd Division, Australian Army 4th Combat Service Support Battalion, 1st/19th Battalion Royal New South Wales Regiment, Australian Army Cadets and the Royal Australian Air Force have now won the tournament three years in a row, following their latest victory at the event held in London earlier this month.

“They came, they soared, they conquered. Huge congratulations to the Australian Army Drone Racing Team on their win at Military International Drone Racing Tournament 2024. What an incredible bunch of people,” said event organiser Delta Hawks Event Services in a statement.
“Also congratulations to the British Military Drone Racing team on second place and Estonia in third place.
“It was an absolute honour to be able to host this event on such prestigious grounds. For all the pilots and teams involved behind the scenes Delta Hawks Event Services thank you for all your hard work, dedication and skill in showcasing what drone racing is all about.”
Drone racing had previously been endorsed by the ADF Sports Cell as the 31st sport to be officially recognised as an ADF Sports Association.
