Non-executive directors appointed to DroneShield board

Simone Haslinger and Richard Joffe have been appointed as independent non-executive directors to the board of Sydney counter-drone defence solution developer DroneShield.

The two appointments will become effective from 9 October this year, according to a company statement published last week on 24 September.

Haslinger was mostly recently the co-head of equity capital markets (Australia) for JP Morgan and she was also previously an equity capital markets executive at Deutsche Bank. She brings 20 years’ investment banking, strategic and capital advice experience, and retains a bachelor of commerce and bachelor of laws from the University of New South Wales.

Joffe, a business management degree graduate from Ivey Business School at Canada’s Western University, brings technology, strategy and rapid global scaling experience after founding and building technology-based companies in the US.

He moved from San Francisco to Sydney in 2019 and is the founder and currently the CEO of Honey Insurance which launched in 2021 and has been rated the sixth fastest growing technology company in Australia. Joffe commenced his business career as a consultant with McKinsey and an investment banker with Morgan Stanley, both focused on the technology sector.

DroneShield chief executive officer Oleg Vornik welcomed Joffe and Haslinger to the company.

“DroneShield welcomes Richard Joffe and Simone Haslinger to our board of directors alongside of Peter James, Jethro Marks and myself, starting in October,” he said.

“With their deep experience in rapid business scale-up strategy and top tier of the listed markets, we continue our journey, as the team grows across technology, sales and operations with my senior teammates Matt M, Angus Bean, Carla Balanco, Paul C and Raffael Blattner.”
