Register #394 | Demand and attrition both high for the quarter
It seems neither winter weather nor a turbulent domestic aviation market has dampened demand for aircraft – perhaps the opposite, with nearly 600 aircraft being added or moved around the CASA register this quarter. Attrition was high, though largely on par with last quarter, with 63 aircraft being removed from the register, the vast majority of which were sent overseas to be sold or parted out. However, with 121 new planes added to the register, the market appears in good health.
As always, we’ll start with commercial operators. Under its regional arm, Qantas said goodbye to four more QantasLink Boeing 717s, all of which have now made their way to the Victorville boneyard in the Mojave Desert, California. The Flying Kangaroo also offloaded a Fokker 100 – a spares ship that had been on its books since 2021. Excitingly, the third QantasLink A220 was added to the register as VH-X4C and was delivered to the airline on 6 August. Further, Qantas’ wet-lease partner Alliance brought on another Embraer E190, VH-A2T, to join the airline’s fast-growing fleet donning the QantasLink livery throughout the regions. This jet was delivered on 19 July, and in operations just 10 days later.
