Next-generation fighter jet concept unveiled at FIA2024

The 2024 Farnborough International Airshow, one of the world’s largest and most significant aviation industry conventions and airshows, marked a week-long escapade of announcements, contracts, handshakes and exceptional air displays.

Yours truly had the absolute pleasure of attending the show this year to get a first-hand look. Despite ongoing production line and delivery issues for both major planemakers, Airbus and Boeing announced over US$100 billion in aircraft sales deals. Widebody aircraft – the least affected by the aforementioned supply chain issues – made up most of the sales, with Airbus beating out its American rival in sheer number of orders, 164 to 96. However, overall sales figures are way down on what would usually be expected at an event such as Farnborough, as the planemakers together continue to drudge through an order backlog of over 15,000 undelivered planes.
