Jetstar will again increase its frequency to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands from next year.
Starting in May 2025 for the peak season, the low-cost carrier will add a fifth weekly flight on Saturdays from Sydney to the Pacific destination, on a route served by its A321neo LR (NEO) fleet.

Jetstar previously boosted its Cook Islands capacity with a fourth weekly flight added in March and currently flies to Rarotonga on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
“The Cook Islands has fast become a popular destination for Australian travellers following the launch of Jetstar’s direct flights from Sydney to Rarotonga a year ago,” said Jetstar’s executive manager, customer, Jenn Armor.
“To support growing demand for low-fare travel to this Pacific Island paradise, we’re proud to launch a fifth weekly service during peak season between May and October next year.
“It’s the third time we have increased frequency on the route since launch which is a testament to the strong appeal of the Cook Islands.
“We extend our sincere thanks to the Cook Islands Government for its ongoing support of low-fare travel to Rarotonga.”
Jetstar in July 2023 became the first Australian carrier to fly non-stop to the Cook Islands since the cancellation of an Ansett service in the early 1990s.
While Jetstar was already flying from Auckland to Rarotonga, the Sydney route shaves at least three hours off the travel time. The only other carrier to have offered a direct service in recent years is Air New Zealand.
Jetstar currently operates 17 NEOs, with the latest, VH-OYU, delivered to Melbourne on 10 October. According to Jetstar, the NEOs deliver 99.8 per cent mechanical reliability, are 50 per cent quieter than similar size Airbus A320/A321s, and burn up to 20 per cent less fuel.
