Opinion: It’s time to let Rex die
The regional carrier’s rivals are livid at its $80m bailout – and they’ve got a point.
I’m a passionate believer that journalists – particularly news reporters – should aim to be as impartial as possible, hiding their personal opinions wherever possible. Yet, let me share a secret with you. I love Rex. And, more than that, I simply adore its devilish chairman John Sharp – aviation’s answer to Malcolm Tucker. Sharp’s waspish wit has skewered pretty much every major figure in the industry, and, after 20 years, there appears to be no more potential victims left.
