Emirates is set to replace its axed Melbourne–Singapore service with a third daily flight from Melbourne to Dubai.
The Gulf carrier will end its daily flights from Melbourne to Singapore on 30 March next year, with flight number EK404/405 to be reassigned to a 777-300ER service, which will operate non-stop to Dubai instead of travelling via Singapore.

The airline currently operates two daily non-stop A380 services from Melbourne to Dubai in addition to the Melbourne–Singapore–Dubai route.
“Starting from 30 March 2025, the four-class Emirates Boeing 777 aircraft will be deployed on flights EK404/405 between Dubai and Melbourne,” the airline said in a statement.
“Emirates’ flight EK404 will depart from Dubai at 21:15hrs, arriving in Melbourne at 17:40hrs the following day. The return EK405 will depart Melbourne at 23:55hrs and arrives in Dubai at 07:00hrs the next day.
“The third daily non-stop flight also means customers have more convenient schedules and choice, with unrivalled connectivity and travel options via Dubai to 27 European cities served with multiple daily flights including London, Paris, and Frankfurt.”
Emirates will use its refurbished 777-300ERs on the third daily Melbourne–Dubai service, which features eight first-class suites, 40 business class seats, 24 seats in premium economy, and 256 economy class seats.
“With the upcoming deployment of Emirates’ four-class Boeing 777 aircraft to and from Melbourne, the airline will offer 3,472 weekly Premium Economy seats across Melbourne and Sydney, enabling more travellers to experience its best-in-class features and upgraded amenities,” the airline said.
Five airlines currently operate the Melbourne–Singapore route: Emirates daily, Qantas twice daily, Singapore Airlines five times daily, and Turkish Airlines and Scoot once per day each.
As reported in Singaporean news outlet The Straits Times earlier this year, Singapore Airlines and its low-cost arm Scoot together hold around 57 per cent of seats on the Melbourne–Singapore route, with Emirates holding around 11 per cent.
Emirates formerly flew from Brisbane to Singapore but wrapped up that route in 2019. The Gulf carrier does not fly from Sydney or Perth to Singapore but does connect through Sydney from Dubai to Christchurch.
The airline in recent months reinstated its pre-pandemic flights between Dubai and Adelaide and is additionally now flying twice per day between Dubai and Perth.
